Almost two years ago, Merriman sued Nike over trademark infringement and unfair competition over its “Lights Out” apparel line.
Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
A statement from Merriman’s spokesperson read, “Nike and Shawne Merriman’s ‘Lights Out’ brand have amicably resolved their ongoing dispute, with the sportswear giant wishing Merriman’s ‘Lights Out’ brand “great success.”
Merriman said he was given the nickname “Lights Out” in high school for his hard-hitting style of play. Merriman is a three-time NFL Pro Bowler and NFL All Pro and was named the 2005 AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
