Below is a quick summary of key races, with an estimated 95.3% of ballots counted in San Diego County and 32 days remaining to complete the count across the state of California.

Since it’s a primary, the top two vote-getters will advance to the Nov. 3 general election.

Governor — Democrat Xavier Becerra has moved into first place with 27.7% of the votes counted so far, followed by Republican Steve Hilton at 25.1% and Democrat Tom Steyer at 22.4%. Click for statewide table.

Other State Offices — Incumbents Rob Bonta and Shirley Weber are set for re-election as Attorney General and Secretary of State, with tallies over 50%. Leading for Lieutenant Governor are Fiona Ma at 19.2%, Gloria Romero at 18.2% and Josh Fryday at 14.5%. For Insurance Commissioner, it’s Jane Kim at 26.8%, Ben Allen at 19.6% and Stacy Korsgaden at 15.8%. And for Superintendent of Public Instruction, the leaders are Sonja Shaw at 23.0%, Richard Barrera at 20.1% and Wendy Leal at 8.9%. Click for all state office results.

Congress — In the contested 48th District, it’s Jim Desmond at 39.6%, followed by Marni von Wilpert at 21.0% and Ammar Campa-Najjar at 10.5%. Click for full district results.

State Senate — In the contested 40th District, Democrat Mara Elliott has 47.5% to Republican Kristie Bruce-Lane’s 28.0%.

State Assembly — In the contested 74th District along the north coast into Orange County, Democratic challenger Sergio Farias is leading incumbent Republican Laurie Davies by 53.0% to 47.0%.

Judicial Offices – Jodi Cleesattle is leading Adam Noakes by 55.4% to 44.6%, and Tia Ramirez is ahead of Nicole D’Ambrogi by 50.2% to 39.2%.

County Supervisor — In District 5, Republican Rebecca Jones has 38.6%, followed by Democrat Kyle Krahel with 22.0% and Republican John Franklin at 18.4%.

County Treasurer/Tax Collector — Appointed incumbent Larry Cohen is leading with 47.3%, followed by Shirley Nakawatase with 33.8% and Joel Anderson at 15.8%.

San Diego City Council — In District 2, Richard Bailey leads with 34.9% of the vote, followed by Nicole Crosby at 33.7% and Josh Coyne at 13.3%.

In District 4, Henry Foster III has moved into the lead against challenger Martha Abraham by 13 votes with 40.7% to 40.6%.

In District 6, incumbent Kent Lee is ahead of challenger Mark Powell, 58.5% to 41.4%.

And in District 8, Antonio Martinez leads with 30.0%, followed by Gerardo Ramirez at 25.7% and Venus Molina with 23.8%.

Measure A — The measure to tax second homes is losing 53.6% to 46.4%.

Chula Vista — Incumbent Mayor John McCann appears headed for re-election with 56.5% of the vote.

In City Council District 1, incumbent Carolina Chavez leads with 43.0% of the vote to Greg Martinez’ 24.1%.

And in District 2, it’s Jose Preciado at 48.4% followed by Angelica Martinez at 27.3%.
