The Metropolitan Transit System will hold another public forum Wednesday to discuss the San Diego region’s housing and transportation challenges in the present and the future.
The meeting is one of several intended to help MTS draft a possible ballot measure for 2020 that would implement a half-cent sales tax on trolley and bus fares to fund road and transit improvements. Circulate San Diego, a transit advocacy group, has suggested the tax could raise about $10 billion over 40 years.
The forum is one of multiple ways residents can give feedback to improve public transit around the county. MTS officials expect to hold several more forums and community events throughout the rest of the summer to gauge public support for the ballot measure and what improvements MTS riders want to see.
The forum is intended to cater to residents in City Heights. The forum will be held at 6 p.m. at the East African Community and Cultural Center at 4061 Fairmount Ave. A full list of the agency’s planned forums and events regarding the possible ballot measure can be found at elevatesd2020.com.
