In a series of tweets on Friday morning, President Trump proposed releasing asylum seekers to sanctuary cities to make Democrats “very happy.”
Trump, who has been frustrated by rising numbers of asylum seekers from violence-prone Central American countries, said he was “giving strong consideration to placing illegal immigrants in sanctuary cities only.”
So-called sanctuary cities have rules that limit local authorities’ cooperation with officers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which is charged with deporting undocumented immigrants.
Los Angeles is a sanctuary city, but not San Diego. In any case, California has overriding sanctuary laws. The intent of the laws is to remove the fear of deportation to encourage residents of immigrant communities to report crimes and work with local police.
….The Radical Left always seems to have an Open Borders, Open Arms policy – so this should make them very happy!

Later on Friday, Trump doubled-down on the idea at a White House event.
“We can give them an unlimited supply and let’s see if they’re so happy,” Trump said, according to the political website TheHill.com.
The Washington Post reported Thursday that White House officials proposed the idea on at least two occasions as a way to retaliate against Democrats who opposed the president’s hardline immigration policies.
