The San Diego City Council’s Audit Committee Wednesday approved a work plan for upcoming reviews of various city programs and departments.
The fiscal year 2019 schedule for City Auditor Eduardo Luna’s office includes 16 performance audits and a handful of other activities.
Audits of the city’s effectiveness in managing human capital and on its public liability payouts were each budgeted the most hours: 2,200 each.
In separate analyses, auditors will also determine the effectiveness and efficiency of homelessness reduction efforts, Advanced Metering Infrastructure, the city’s Customer Support Division call center and water billing accuracy.
Luna’s office also operates a hotline for individuals to confidentially report evidence of fraud, waste or abuse involving city employees or operations. Staff also track and follow up on city implementation of audit recommendations.
