“Paul Kerr is the candidate who is willing to listen, and he understands the issues that are important to firefighters,” said Jesse Conner, president of the union, which is Local 145 of the International Association of Fire Fighters. “Local firefighters know that Paul shares our concerns and values regarding public safety.”
Kerr, a Navy veteran and small business owner, said he “couldn’t be more honored to be endorsed by San Diego City Fire Fighters. These men and women bravely put their lives on the line every day.”
Kerr faces a crowded field that includes Democrats Doug Applegate, Mike Levin and Sara Jacobs, as well as Republicans Rockey Chavez and Diane Harkey. Incumbent Darrell Issa is not running for reelection.
The district stretches from UC San Diego through northern, coastal San Diego County into sough Orange County.
