“She’s probably more skilled in coming to office than I was,” Issa said. “She’s had to battle the bureaucracy in Sacramento and she’s had to deal with the tax code.”
Harkey served three terms in the Assembly before being elected in 2014 to the Board of Equalization, the agency charged with tax administration and fee collection. Her district includes much of Southern California.
Issa appeared with Harkey in an exclusive interview Wednesday morning on 10News.
Harkey, who indicated last week she had Issa’s backing, said she was “extremely honored” by the endorsement.
She faces fellow Republicans Rocky Chavez and Joshua Schoonover, as well as Democrats Doug Applegate — who narrowly lost in 2016 — Mike Levin, Paul Kerr and Sara Jacobs.
