Democratic mayoral candidate Ed Harris has released his campaign’s first television commercial, but called upon supporters to raise the money for a full media buy.
The commercial focuses on problems with the city’s 9-1-1 dispatch system that have resulted in lengthy delays for residents requiring emergency response.
“Faulconer has been too preoccupied preparing his run for governor to fulfill his basic obligation of keeping our public safe,” Harris said in a message to supporters.
The commercial is available on YouTube, and began airing Tuesday morning, but the campaign is seeking donations for full television schedule.
Harris, leader of the lifeguards’ union and a former interim City Council member, faces Mayor Kevin Faulconer, a Republican, and former Assembly Member Lori Saldaña, an independent. The race is officially non-partisan.
