Kevin Faulconer and the candidates challenging him for re-election as mayor of San Diego will meet in three televised debates prior to the June 7 primary.

The three events are:

  • Tuesday, April 12 — 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. hosted by Univision/Telemundo
  • Tuesday, May 24 — 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. hosted by KUSI/San Diego Union-Tribune
  • Friday, June 3 — 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. hosted by NBC San Diego/ Voice of San Diego

If re-elected, Faulconer would serve his first full term in office. He became the city’s 36th mayor in a special election in 2014 to replace the disgraced Bob Filner,

He faces Democrat Ed Harris, a former intern City Councilman, and independent Lori Saldaña, a former state Assembly member.

If any candidate wins a majority of the primary vote — 50 percent plus one — then a runoff will not be necessary in the November general election.
