The 42nd annual meeting of the American Legislative Exchange Council, which will bring three Republican presidential candidates to San Diego this week, is scheduled to open Tuesday.
After some preliminary events Tuesday, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is scheduled to speak at a breakfast Thursday at the conference at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee will speak at a lunch Thursday and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, at a lunch on Friday.
ALEC bills itself as the nation’s largest nonpartisan voluntary membership organization of state legislators. The council is governed by state legislators who comprised the board of directors and is advised by the Private Enterprise Advisory Council, a group of private, foundation and think tank members.
