Rep. Scott Peters blasted Wednesday’s House resolution authorizing a precedent-setting lawsuit against President Obama as a “waste of America’s time and money.”
“It is a completely political waste of America’s time and money,” Peters said in a statement.” “It diverts attention from important undone business, including funding the government past September 30 and avoiding another government shutdown, fighting and preventing wildfires that are burning the western states today, forging a bipartisan solution to today’s border crisis, passing comprehensive immigration reform, and fixing the broken tax code to make our country more competitive.”
Peters, a Democrat, said it was ironic that the Republic majority voted to sue the President for delaying implementation of part of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, even though the Republicans themselves are trying to delay or even eliminate the law.
“With members of Congress about to go home for five weeks, the fact that our docket is blemished with this political ploy is shameful, and one of the reasons Congressional approval is at an all-time low,” he said.
Peters represents the 52nd district, which covers much of central San Diego County including Poway, Coronado, and large portions of the City of San Diego. He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Science, Space, & Technology.
