The Glama Project stopped by senior community, St. Paul’s PACE program in Chula Vista, last week to help the women get “glammed” in honor of World Senior Citizen’s Day.
The Glama Project, which is a senior makeover project, comprises of women who volunteer their services in make-up and photography.
“The Glama Project was born from a personal experience that my own grandmother had while transitioning into a senior community,” said Callie Ahern, founder of the project. “I wanted to do something to remind her that ‘she’s still fabulous no matter her age’ and growing up she always loved getting dressed up.”
Ahern said the group has hosted nearly 40 events since its creation two years ago, “glamming” more than 125 seniors.
“My team and I love spending time with these women, encouraging self-confidence, and learning from their words of wisdom along the way,” Ahern said. “Most of these women have incredible life stories and if you just take the time to sit down and listen. It’s amazing what you’ll walk away with.”
