Police got hugs — and tossed multicolored wrist bands. An FBI unit was cheered. And many of San Diego’s Democratic office-holders (along with Republicans Bonnie Dumanis and Mayor Kevin Faulconer) paid their LGBT respects Saturday.

A sea breeze helped keep the 44th annual Pride Parade in Hillcrest bearable amid warm and humid weather as hundreds of thousands of spectators took part in the joyful show.

“When we as San Diegans come together to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and to see the energy, the smiles on people’s faces — all walks of life — this is one of our best days in the city,” Faulconer said. “And I just absolutely love the energy and the enthusiasm.”

Freebies flowed as the 3 1/2-hour parade again saw many commercial floats. Many watched on TV at air-conditioned watch parties. (KUSI posted video online, and ABC affiliate KGTV streamed live on Facebook.)
