Sunset Park in Coronado reopened Thursday after six weeks of improvement projects.
Irrigation systems were upgraded, new sod was laid down and a drinking fountain was installed, according to the city. A new sidewalk was also installed along the park’s Ocean Drive perimeter.
New sod is intended to make the park safer by providing stronger, more evenly distributed turf. New irrigation infrastructure should improve spray coverage and reduce water consumption by 20 percent, the city said.
