The National Weather Service office in San Diego is forecasting another bout of Santa Ana winds this weekend, followed by showers and mountain snow next week.

Peak winds Saturday night and Sunday morning will be near 40 mph in the foothills, mountains and passes —  enough to cause an elevated fire risk.

“Although a short-duration event, the combination of low relative humidity and strong offshore winds … could generate red flag conditions early Sunday morning through early Sunday afternoon,” the weather service said.

Then a low pressure system will drop from the Pacific Northwest into Southern California, with rain and snow most likely between Tuesday and Thursday, though the weather service described the forecast as still uncertain.

“Details are still really fuzzy next week, especially regarding when we get rain and how much, but confidence is growing,” the weather service said.
