The National Weather Service office in San Diego warned Sunday that a monsoon weather pattern could produce thunderstorms over the mountains and deserts by the end of the week.

Thunderstorms are possible by Thursday in the San Diego County mountains, and on Friday and Saturday in both the mountains and deserts, according to the forecast.

In addition to the change of rain, the weather service predicted “it will get hot inland with temperatures rising above normal and probably muggy with the monsoonal moisture.”

High temperatures inland are expected to be in the 80s and 90s throughout the period.
