A Vista-based sports nutrition company has donated 3,500 pounds to gourmet oatmeal to North County homeless shelters in time for Christmas.
Employees of TrueNutrition.com dropped off the oatmeal on Thursday to Brother Benno’s, Operation Hope, Community Resource Center and The Bread of Life Rescue Mission.
Operation Hope noted the oatmeal was especially welcome because the shelter completely relies on donations for breakfast meals.
TrueNutrition recently acquired MyOatmeal.com, a producer of custom oatmeal blends formerly based in Tempe, AZ.
“Philanthropy and charity are core values of our company,” said co-owner Douglas Smith. “Because of our recent acquisition of MyOatmeal.com, we are donating several thousand dollars worth of gourmet oatmeal to homeless families and children in need this holiday season.”
