Well, the rain didn’t materialized but the muggy, humid weather stuck around anyhow.

No matter, now that the weekend’s here, let’s show the heat who’s boss.

Here are some of the top events happening this weekend.

Adams Avenue Street Fair

There are street fairs and then there’s the Adams Avenue Street Fair. It is one of the biggest street fairs in the city.

The 34th annual street fair is the largest free concert festival in Southern California. The two-day event features more than 100 musical acts on eight stages.

There are several beer gardens and beer tasting stations throughout, not to mention food vendors, carnival rides and crafters selling their wares.

The event is free and goes from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

20th Annual Pacific Islander Festival

This event is the largest Pacific Islander festival in San Diego. The free two-day event features cultures from across the Pacific, including Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia.

The festival features food, music and specialty crafts unique to each culture. There is continuous entertain throughout the two-day affair.

The Pacific Island Festival goes from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ski Beach.

ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship

San Diego is no stranger to surfing competitions, but the inaugural ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship is a bit different.

The competition is geared toward physically challenged athletes. The Challenged Athletes Foundation is one of the partners for this event.

The competition goes throughout the weekend at La Jolla Shores. The event is free to watch.

Poway Rodeo

The Rodeo is coming to town. Professional cowboys from around the country convene this weekend at the 41st annual Poway Rodeo to compete in cowboy activities.

The event features bareback and saddle Bronc riding, barrel racing, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping and bull riding. Kids 50 pounds and under can try their hands at cowboying by attempting to ride sheep.

For those 21 and older, there is a dance each night after the rodeo.

The event spans the weekend, starting at 10 a.m. Friday. Tickets range from $5 to $45, the post rodeo dance, however, is free.

San Diego Blues Festival

Listen to some great blues music and help a great cause at the same time? You can do that at the San Diego Blues Festival.

The festival is a fundraiser for the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank.

The event features 18 acts over a two-day festival, including Booker T. Jones, Billy Thompson and the Bill McGee Blues Band.

The event goes from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets range from $25 to $200.
