The streak of no one hitting an ace in the finals of the annual Hole-in-One Shootout run by organizers of the local bowl games remained intact Monday, so no one took home the $1 million grand prize.
In the 25 years or so of the event, no one has hit a hole-in-one in the final round, which would qualify them for the jackpot.
Instead, the closest shot at the Carlton Oaks Golf Course was 14 feet, 5 1/2 inches by Robert Welsh of Clairemont, according to the San Diego Bowl Games Association.
Welsh will receive two round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines, a foursome at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo and four tickets to a Chargers game.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the nonprofit association, which runs the Holiday and Poinsettia bowls.
