Wearing a seat belt isn’t just the law: it could mean the difference between life and death.

During the month of May the San Diego Sheriff’s Department is cracking down on people who don’t wear their seat belts.

The Click It or Ticket campaign runs through May 31.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly half of the 21,132 passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes in 2013 were not wearing seat belts.

Be aware that deputies are ALWAYS looking for drivers who aren’t following California’s seat belt laws.
“It’s the first thing everyone should do when they get inside a car,” said San Diego Sheriff Bill Gore. “Buckling up is not only the law, but it can save your life in the event of a crash.”
