A 95-year-old man with early signs of dementia who went missing from his East Chula Vista home was found safe Thursday morning in Inglewood, near Los Angeles International Airport.
Homer Widener left his Bonita-area home around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to go for a ride, but left behind his medications for dementia, heart problems and high blood pressure, along with his cell phone, wallet and identification, according to a Chula Vista Police statement.
Police said it was out of the ordinary for Widener to leave home without his wife, and he had no other family in the area.
A police dispatcher said around 4:30 a.m. Thursday that Widener had been found and was not hurt. Around 8 a.m., police said his family was in the process of reuniting with him.
