New bikes will be donated Friday to the San Diego Police Department by the Gary Sinise Foundation.
The charity will provide support for SDPD Sgt. Anthony Elliott, who is recovering from a serious gunshot injury to the head he received on Dec. 7.
The details of the new bike equipment to replace SDPD’s aging fleet and the other investments to the department totaling more than $91,000 will be highlighted at 11 a.m. Friday in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, 199 Fifth Ave.
The foundation will host a special Serving Heroes luncheon at SDPD headquarters downtown to provide lunch for 300 on-duty officers.
The meals will be kicked off with a special presentation and donation to Elliott.
