Authorities on Friday continued to investigate the death of a motorcyclist from Valley Center following a crash in unincorporated Escondido.
The three-vehicle collision occurred on Bear Valley Parkway at Birch Avenue around 4:35 p.m. Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist, 41, was riding a black Harley Davidson Street Glide in the northbound lane of Bear Valley, approaching Birch, the CHP said, when he collided with a silver Hyundai Sonata, driven by a motorist, 43, from Escondido. She had been eastbound on Birch.
The crash caused both the Harley Davidson and rider to strike an unoccupied Hyundai Accent parked along the right curb of Bear Valley and two pedestrians, a woman, 33, from Escondido, and man, 45, from San Diego.
Medics transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital, where he later died. The two pedestrians were also sent to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Sonata driver did not report any injuries.
Traffic in the area was affected for more than three hours.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to have contributed to the collision. The
investigation is ongoing. The CHP asks that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has other information to contact the agency’s Oceanside office at (760) 643-3400.
