An elderly motorcyclist suffered serious leg fractures Friday in Mission Valley after colliding with a motorist making a U-turn.

San Diego police said the driver, a 27-year-old male in a 2004 Honda Element, was parked along the north curb line of 6200 Friars Road facing west at 1:25 p.m.

The male motorcyclist, 70, was riding his motorcycle westbound in the No. 2 lane. As the Honda left the parking spot and began to make a U-turn onto eastbound Friars it crossed the No. 2 lane, and the motorcycle struck the Element’s front left side.

The motorcyclist sustained an open compound fracture to the left humerus, closed fracture of the left radius and an open fracture to the left tibia and fibula.

San Diego Police Traffic Division is investigating.

Police ask that anyone with information on the accident call investigators or San Diego Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
