A suspicious death in Barrio Logan prompted a homicide investigation late Thursday afternoon.
The San Diego Police Department received reports of a fatality in the area of Boston Avenue and 28th Street shortly after 4 p.m.
Lt. Adam Sharki confirmed the investigation but declined to provide further information, except to assert that “there is no threat to public safety at this time.”
OnScene TV reported that a son was suspected of killing his mother and that officers evacuated an apartment complex as part of the investigation.
Police later said the victim was a woman, 64, who was found dead in her bathroom by one of her sons.
That man quarreled with his brother, a 30-year-old man, who is suspected in the killing. Police detained him, though he was sent to the hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the fight with his brother.
Police shut down traffic lanes in the area as homicide detectives took charge of the case.
