The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the cause of a traffic collision that killed a woman earlier Sunday morning in Lemon Grove.
The driver was headed eastbound on Broadway from Lemon Grove Avenue at about 2:53 a.m. when she crossed over the center divider and went off the roadway, sheriff’s officials said.
Her vehicle then jumped over the median and hit a parked car. The parked car was sent toward a store front and hit a tree, taking it down, OnScene.TV reported.
The victim, who was alone in her vehicle, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Scripps Mercy Hospital, where she later died, according to the department.
The woman’s name is not being released pending notification of family members, Lt. Jim Emig said.
The Lemon Grove Traffic Unit was handling the investigation, sheriff’s officials said.
