San Diego County Sheriff‘s deputies on Saturday were investigating a deadly collision in Poway that left a 54-year-old man and his teenage son dead. 

The accident occurred just after 7 p.m. Friday in the 15000 block of Espola Road when the two victims, who were in a Toyota sedan pulling out of the north parking lot at Poway High School, were broadsided by a Mercedes sedan driven by a teenager.

The man, died at the scene and his son was transorted to Rady Children’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The 19-year old driver of the Mercedes was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.  He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the two victims and the driver of the Mercedes were not immediately released.

 Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the collision.
