At the same time, the agency canceled the requirement for chains on state Route 78 from Banner Grade to the state Route 78/79 junction in Santa Ysabel.
In some mountain areas, including Julian, Descanso, Pine Valley and Mt. Laguna, up to 12 inches of snow fell on Friday and chains were required on vehicles traveling in those areas.
For travelers heading Saturday to Big Bear, farther north, chains are still required, according to Caltrans.
