A 56-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized Saturday morning with serious injuries sustained in a crash involving a pedestrian in the Grantville area of San Diego.
The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound in the 10100 block of Friars Road at 12:15 a.m. when a pedestrian walked in front of him and was struck by the motorcycle, according to Officer Tony Martinez of the San Diego Police Department.
The impact redirected the motorcycle toward the curb on the south side of the street, where the motorcyclist crashed into a street light pole, Martinez said.
The rider sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. The pedestrian fled the scene, Martinez said.
