A car struck a pedestrian on an El Cerrito-area street Friday, leaving her gravely injured.
The 61-year-old woman was crossing the roadway to the north in the 6000 block of El Cajon Boulevard when a westbound Toyota Corolla hit her about 6:45 a.m., according to San Diego police.
Medics took her to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, including major head trauma and broken bones in both of her legs, said Officer Tony Martinez.
Traffic accident investigators were working to determine who was at fault for the crash, according to Martinez, who said intoxication was “not a factor in this accident.”
