San Diego police Wednesday identified the couple found slain Saturday at their Torrey Highlands home — with their son suspected in the deaths committing suicide.
The victims were Xiaoqun Fang, 58, and her husband Yi Cheng, 60, according to San Diego police. The suspect has been identified as Fang Cheng, 30, who died Friday after jumping from the Eastgate Mall overpass over Interstate 805.
Channel 10 News reported that the husband was a manager in the engineering department of Qualcomm.
The couple was expected in San Francisco earlier in the day but did not arrive, said police Lt. Martha Sainz.
“This caused concern to family members, prompting them to call police,” she said. “Upon arriving at the location, officers attempted to make contact at the door, then by telephone with no success.”
Officers looked through a rear window at 7405 Via Rivera and saw the body of a person lying on the living room floor, she said, prompting them to force entry into the home.
Once inside, officers discovered the bodies of an Asian male and female in their 50s with trauma to the upper body. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
San Diego Police Department homicide detectives think the male who committed suicide Friday murdered his parents in their home.
