San Diego Lifeguards said the sharks spotted by kayakers Monday near La Jolla Cove were juvenile soupfins that did not exhibit aggressive behavior.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said authorities patrolled the area on the water and by helicopter, and interviewed witnesses to determine the animals spotted posed no danger.
The cove is popular with both distance swimmers and kayakers, many of whom rent their kayaks at La Jolla Shores.
A shark advisory was issued earlier this month for Carlsbad-area beaches.
