Employees at a liquor store near Balboa Park summoned police after they recognized a man Sunday who allegedly tried to rob the business one week ago.
City Liquor House employees said the man entered the business on Aug. 11. Employees chased him away after he allegedly pulled a knife on the store’s owner.
The owner said the man told him, “I’m robbing you,” before he fled on foot.
The employees called San Diego police at 10:25 a.m. Sunday, saying the same man entered the store, in the 1800 block of Fifth Avenue, smiled and walked out.
Officers found the suspect a few blocks south at Beech Street and Fifth. They arrested him without incident and found a knife among his belongings.
Police suspect he committed another robbery at a Fifth Avenue business, this one in downtown San Diego.
