Ten people were arrested in an overnight traffic checkpoint on Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach, police said Saturday.
Officers from the Chula Vista Police Department assisted the San Diego Police Department in the checkpoint, which began at 11 p.m. Friday and ended at 3 a.m. Saturday
Eight drivers suspected of drunk driving were arrested at or near the checkpoint, police said. One driver was arrested on suspicion of being drug- impaired and one person was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.
Four citations were issued and nine vehicles were impounded. A total of 2,064 vehicles went through the checkpoint at 2400 Grand Ave. Of those vehicles, 250 were screened. Of those screened vehicles, 11 drivers were evaluated.
Drivers convicted of driving impaired can expect jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes, and other expenses exceeding $10,000, according to police.
Another checkpoint or DUI saturation patrol was scheduled for later Saturday.
