A vehicle struck and severely injured a pedestrian Tuesday in a Teralta East-area intersection.

The accident at Highland and University avenues occurred about 10 a.m., according to San Diego police.

Medics took the victim, a woman in her 60s, to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest for treatment of serious head trauma, said Officer Billy Hernandez.

The involved motorist was cooperating with traffic detectives as they worked to determine who was at fault for the crash, Hernandez said.
