A motorist was seriously injured Monday morning in a solo vehicle crash in Dulzura, authorities said.

The crash was reported around 6:45 a.m. on state Route 94 near Marron Valley Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Tommy Doerr said.

A witness told dispatchers a box truck crashed into a tree and ended up around 50 feet off the roadway, according to a CHP incident log.

The motorist was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate to severe injuries, Cal Fire Capt. Issac Sanchez said.

No details about the victim were immediately available.

CHP officers were investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
