A woman was displaced after a fire damaged her El Cajon home, authorities said Friday.
The blaze began about 11 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Leland Place, off East Washington Avenue, San Miguel Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Andy Lawler said.
Crews arrived and found heavy smoke coming from a detached single- story structure, on the property, Lawler said.
Firefighters doused the blaze and knocked down the flames within 20 minutes, but it damaged about three-fourths of the structure and caused minor damage to the attic, he said.
The woman made it out of the home before crews arrived, but she was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, Lawler said.
The American Red Cross was called in to help the displaced woman arrange for temporary lodging.
