An 88-year-old motorist was gravely injured Thursday in a collision at a Tierrasanta intersection.
The crash occurred shortly after noon, when the octogenarian pulled onto Tierrasanta Boulevard from Tambor Road, driving his 2008 Toyota directly into the path of a westbound vehicle, according to San Diego police.
Medics took the man to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening trauma, said San Diego police Officer Sarah Foster.
No other injuries were reported.
Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the accident, Foster said.
