The San Diego Sheriff’s Department announced it will set up a DUI and license checkpoint somewhere in San Marcos on Friday night.
Deputies will be stopping drivers to check for alcohol or drug impairment beginning at 7:30 p.m. and continuing until 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
The sheriff’s department said specially-trained deputies will evaluate drivers’ abilities to safely operate motor vehicles and make arrests if necessary.
The specific location of the checkpoint was not revealed.
Funding for the checkpoint comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
