A car struck and seriously injured a 79-year-old pedestrian on a Mira Mesa thoroughfare early Tuesday.
The woman was crossing the street to the north in a crosswalk in the 9300 block of Mira Mesa Boulevard when the westbound vehicle hit her about 5 a.m., according to San Diego police.
Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of a broken pelvis, compound fracture to her right shinbone and head trauma. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
It remained unclear Tuesday afternoon who was at fault for the accident, Officer Robert Heims said.
