A 26-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries when the driver of the car she was in lost control, slid sideways into the center median and struck a tree on the passenger side Tuesday in the Miramar Ranch North neighborhood, police said.
The 27-year-old man driving the 2014 Infinity Q50 was seriously injured in the crash that occurred at 1:55 p.m. in the 11500 block of Scripps Poway Parkway at Sunshine Peak, according to San Diego Police Department Officer Dino Delimitros.
The woman was airlifted to a hospital while the man was taken by ground ambulance to a hospital, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Battalion Chief David Pilkerton told City News Service.
The woman was trapped in the car for more than an hour. She was freed at 3:07 p.m., Pilkerton said.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, Delimitros said.
The crash victims were not identified.
The crash remained under investigation by the SDPD. Anyone with information on the crash was asked the SDPD at (619) 531-2000 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
