A second teenage suspect was arrested Friday in connection with a recent deadly shooting near Vista Transit Center.
Homicide detectives took the 14-year-old Vista boy into custody on suspicion of taking part in the killing of Jonathan Ruiz, 20, on Nov. 4, according to sheriff’s officials. The arrestee’s name was withheld because he is a minor.
Ruiz, a Vista resident, was found mortally wounded on a dirt path off the 200 block of Olive Avenue about 2:30 p.m., Lt. Michael Blevins said. The victim died at a hospital a short time later.
Witnesses described seeing two teenage boys or young men running away from the transit center following the shooting.
On Tuesday, 19-year-old Issac Martinez of Oceanside was arrested for allegedly participating in the slaying.
Officials have not revealed a possible motive in the case or disclosed what led investigators to identify the two teens as Ruiz’s alleged killers.
