A black 2012 Hyundai sedan being driven by a 40-year-old woman was heading east in the 1300 block of Garnet Avenue at about 2 p.m. Sunday when she veered left and crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a white 2012 Toyota sedan being driven by a 68-year-old man, police said.
The female driver suffered a collapsed lung and her passenger suffered a head injury along with abrasions and lacerations, San Diego police Sgt. Michael Tansey said, adding that the driver would be charged with DUI.
The driver of the Toyota — who Tansey said was not under the influence — suffered moderate injuries and his passenger suffered multiple broken bones, Tansey added.
Detectives and officers from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division are conducting the investigation.
