The man, 80, was coming out of the mobile home park he lived in, Granada Mobile Estates on Anita Street, around 7:45 a.m. when the emergency is believed to have occurred, Chula Vista police Lt. Gino Grippo said. The car struck a brick retaining wall at a slow speed, causing minor damage to the car and the wall.
Emergency personnel responded, found the man not breathing and tried to resuscitate him. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Grippo said.
The man’s identity wasn’t immediately released.
