A passenger suffered a broken arm when a car crashed into a tree off a highway connector ramp in the northern reaches of the San Diego area early Tuesday.
The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. just off the northbound Interstate 15 connector ramp from eastbound state Route 76, south of the unincorporated community of Rainbow, California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Latulippe said.
A 20-year-old woman lost control of her Toyota Corolla while transitioning from eastbound SR-76 to the northbound I-15. The car veered off the north side of the connector ramp and slammed into a tree, Latulippe said.
The driver and her passengers — a 19-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man — were all transported to Palomar Medical Center, where the younger passenger was treated for an arm fracture, Latulippe said. The driver and the man in the car had complaints of pain but did not appear to be seriously hurt.
Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation, Latulippe said.
