William Robert Carnley, a 38-year-old El Cajon man, died at the scene of a wreck down a shallow ravine off state Route 67 near Mina de Oro Road late Tuesday.

Carnley is believed to have lost control of his Toyota Tundra pickup truck and gone down the ravine, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

He was ejected from the truck, and passersby immediately came to his assistance and called 911, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Despite efforts from medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries before he was able to be taken to a hospital.
