Firefighters Saturday reported total containment of a blaze that blackened swaths of open land and gutted a back-country home in Dulzura.
The Building Fire was 100 percent contained at 10 acres Saturday morning, Cal Fire officials said.
It began spreading for unknown reasons shortly before 10:30 a.m. Friday off state Route 94, near Community Building Road in Dulzura, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The flames engulfed one residence before crews were able to halt the blaze, which took about 90 minutes.
The fire broke out amid an intense heat wave that sent temperatures soaring into the triple digits in the area. At 10 acres, the fire was considerably smaller than the four other major brush fires that broke out in San Diego County on Friday.
