A man riding a bicycle remained hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday after he was hit by a car that fled the scene.
It happened at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Pacific Highway, according to Officer John Butte with the San Diego Police Department.
The driver of a BMW was southbound on Pacific Highway at Harbor Drive when he ran a red light and slammed into a 35-year-old man on a bicycle crossing the intersection, Butte said.
The BMW driver fled the scene, but later turned himself in and talked with detectives. He was released pending further investigation, said Butte.
The bicycle rider was taken to a hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
