Firefighters quickly contained a small brush fire in the Cleveland National Forest near Descanso Monday.

The fire broke out around noon along Japatul Valley Road, south of Interstate 8, according to a U.S. Forest Service dispatcher.

It was first reported as being about a half-acre in size, then grew to about one acre, the dispatcher said.

The blaze was fully contained by 1:30 p.m. No structures were threatened, and there was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
