An argument between two men at Chollas Creekside Park escalated Friday into a stabbing that sent one of them to a hospital.
The violence at the city recreation area in the 5000 block of Market Street broke out shortly after 3 p.m., according to San Diego police.
After stabbing the victim three times, the unidentified assailant ran off to the north. He was described as a heavyset black man who appeared to be in his 30s, Officer Robert Heims said.
Medics took the 40-year-old victim to a trauma center for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.
